Strategically located in a 22,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility in Houston, Texas, Buffalo Seal and Gasket has become a leader in the production, fabrication and distribution of o-rings, spiral wound gaskets, o-ring cord, back-up rings, packing, flange insulation kits, rubber sheet material, gasket cutting tools and accessories, and strip sheet rubber. Another area of expertise that we here at Buffalo Seal and Gasket take great pride in is our in-house Teflon® welding capabilities.
Due to the ever-expanding needs of our customers, Buffalo Seal and Gasket has successfully developed a consistent and re
, reliable Teflon® welded joints. In terms of Teflon® welding, there are no industry standards for this process – not from ANSI, ASME, or any other industry association or organization. However, Buffalo Seal and Gasket has developed a Teflon® welding method which is consistent, repeatable, and reliable – to such a high degree that our customers come back to us for all of their Teflon® welding needs – and, many new clients come to us for this service (having heard of the excellent results our other customers have seen in their Teflon® welded products). In fact, we provide our Teflon® welding services to many of the major industrial gasket manufacturers.
Buffalo Seal and Gasket’s proprietary method of Teflon® welding begins with two custom-built and designed Teflon® welding machines. We can use our in-stock Teflon material including virgin Teflon® or mechanical grade Teflon®, or work with your material. We’ll cut the material in sections to deliver the best yield (maximum number of gaskets/products from the material), and then determine the number of welded joints required to meet the end product specifications. Our proprietary Teflon® welding process calls for beveling/overlapping the material, using our welding material for best cohesion between layers. The two key elements in Buffalo Seal and Gasket’s welding procedure are keeping the material under pressure and heated/cooked over time – the optimum pressure and the precise amount of time, along with the proper welding material, are critical to the successful welding of Teflon®. After being heated/cooked, the Teflon® must be cooled down as fast as possible.
Teflon® welded products, including gaskets and seals, can be found in a wide variety of industries and applications, including the chemical, petrochemical, and medical sectors, in products such as heat exchangers (ribs) and the like – anywhere where a corrosion resistant material is required.
